Stephen Blais Urged Councillor Jellett Years Ago to Cost Out LRT to the East End

Cumberland Candidate Stephen Blais is questioning why Councillor Jellett waited more than two years after he urged him to ask city staff to cost out bringing LRT to Trim Road and building the Cumberland transit line as an LRT out to Millennium Road instead of a BRT.

”On April 15, 2008, I emailed Councillors Jellett, Monette, Bloess and Bellemare and urged them to ask city staff to cost out an Orléans LRT link," says Blais. "With less than seven weeks to go before election-day, I’m not surprised that Councillor Jellett has now taken my advice for the sole purpose of his re-election."

On Sunday August 29th during CTV Ottawa’s Focus segment, Councillor Rob Jellett said he voted against the roundabout in Orléans. Not surprising to residents this is not entirely true. On Thursday, January 28, 2010, Councillor Jellett clearly voted for this roundabout.

Councillor Jellett playing politics with the Blackburn Bypass

Cumberland Candidate Stephen Blais is questioning why Councillor Jellett is playing politics with the Blackburn By-pass Extension. This announcement will undoubtedly become part of Rob Jellett's re-election brochure.

“I’m not surprised Councillor Jellett has announced a plan for the Blackburn Bypass days before he is rumoured to announce his re-election campaign,” says Blais. “Councillor Jellett is renowned for making campaign promises during election years only to flip-flop later.”

East End City Council Candidates Favour Citywide LRT Links Over A Downtown Tunnel

Beacon Hill-Cyrville Candidate Tim Tierney and Cumberland Candidate Stephen Blais are calling on City Council to shelve the tunnel portion of the City's current LRT plan until more money can be secured from upper levels of government in favour of building LRT links to Orleans, Kanata, Barrhaven and Riverside South.
