Roundabout in Orléans?

I have always been against this unwanted and unneeded roundabout in our community, which is why I have lobbied to have this project killed.

Despite the East End being in desperate need of major infrastructure investments, this roundabout is nothing but a safety hazard for our residents that will cost us millions of dollars. To make matters worse, City Hall will now spend nearly almost a million dollars more than planned prior to construction even commencing.

Focus on local transportation

As an east end candidate for city councilor of Cumberland Ward, I am currently not in favour of the new transit plan beginning with a tunnel for the following reasons: 1) cost; 2) Added bus transfer points and 3) the current LRT plan is not visionary enough for our city or our community.

A green bin full of tax dollars

According to the city council, the introduction of the green box program is designed to divert valuable organic waste from landfills, along with cutting greenhouse gases. By diverting this organic waste, we will not have to invest property tax dollars in new landfill sites for some time.

Dear editor,

When Cumberland Coun. Rob Jellett says he will push for the 7.5 per cent OC Transpo fare increase, I wonder if he’s obfuscating the truth. With Express bus passes set to rise by about 12 per cent, the majority of public transit riders in Orléans are going to be paying a lot more.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the East Ottawa Star on Oct. 16 – a full-page ad called Rapid Transit Progress Report, featuring the city's light rail plan that won't service Orléans for 30 years.
